Sun’s Out, Let’s Grab a Beer… Or Go On A Sesh?

The sun is shining, the world feels lighter, and everywhere you look, people are raising a glass to “celebrate.” It’s almost automatic: Sun’s out, let’s grab a beer! But have you ever stopped to wonder-are we chasing happiness, or just the illusion of it?
Don't get me wrong, I like a cold one in the sun with friends, but these days my cold ones tend to be 0.0% to 0.5% abv.
Am I missing out? No. Am I still out socialising, hell yeah! I am I feeling the benefits of not feeling rough the day after? Yup.
I was brought up in the drinks industry and I 100% support venues. They are cultural melting pots and can bring like minded souls together to enjoy tunes or other peoples company. It's nice to see more and more places stocking low and no alcohol options these days. Times my friends - are changing.
We have been taught to associate alcohol with fun, freedom, and connection. But do we really need an alcoholic drink in hand to have a good time? Or is it just a shortcut to numbness, a way to avoid facing the parts of ourselves that still hurt?
Ask yourself: When was the last time you felt true happiness-deep, lasting, soul-level joy-from something that didn’t come from a bottle? Sometimes, our patterns around drinking aren’t really about celebration at all. They’re often about old wounds, unhealed trauma, and the comfort of routine, even if that routine keeps us stuck.
If you find yourself in the same karmic loop-repeating the same choices, feeling the same emptiness-maybe it’s time to break free.
Real happiness isn’t found at the bottom of a glass. It’s found in living authentically, healing old wounds, and creating a life you genuinely love.
This summer, try something different. Seek out joy that doesn’t need to be chased or numbed. You might be surprised at how good true happiness can feel.
Go explore. Get yourself to some beach yoga. Take a dip in a lake or cold plunge and sauna... maybe even try your favorite beer garden, but see how it feels with a nosecco, or vir-gin and tonic or zero % cider or beer. There is so much more to life to enjoy
