Time for a Digital Detox: Scrub Your Feed, Cleanse & Feed Your Mind

Ever find yourself picking up your phone just for a minute, only to come up for air 45 minutes later, having watched six unrelated YouTube shorts and scrolled past dozens of posts that left you feeling… drained?

You're not alone.

What we consume digitally, our "digital diet" if you will, is just as important as what we feed our bodies. What we consume through our screens has a powerful impact on our energy, mood, beliefs, and ultimately, our wellbeing. That’s why it might be time for a social media scrub.

What’s a Social Media Scrub?

It’s the digital equivalent of spring cleaning. It’s about consciously reviewing and resetting what shows up in your social media feeds, inboxes, and recommended videos.

Here’s the hard truth:If your feed is full of negative news, toxic comparison, mindless memes, or content that leaves you feeling “less than” or anxious, it’s not random. It’s by design. You’re being fed what you interact with.

It's like an echo chamber, you see more of what you have seen and it can lead to being dragged into things, or going down rabbit holes, and it can get addictive and consume you. So what if you flipped the script?

Step 1: Unfollow the Noise

Ask yourself:

  • Does this account bring me joy?

  • Does this inspire me?

  • Do I learn something, or does it uplift me?

If the answer is no, hit unfollow. It doesn’t make you a bad person. It makes you intentional.

It’s okay to mute or unfollow:

  • Influencers who promote unattainable perfection

  • Accounts that stir fear, outrage, or drama

  • Mindless content that eats time without adding value

This isn’t about being judgmental, it’s about being protective of your mental and emotional space.

Step 2: Reboot Your Algorithm

Every “like,” every watch, every click teaches the algorithm what to show you more of. If you're constantly feeding it low-vibe content, gossip, drama, doomscrolling, it learns that’s your preference. But here’s the empowering bit: You can retrain it.

Start actively engaging with:

  • Accounts that promote growth, wellness, and learning

  • Creators talking about mindset, healing, self-awareness

  • Pages that encourage creativity, curiosity, and personal development

Soon, your feed will begin to mirror the energy you actually want in your life.

Step 3: Remember... You're In Control

Social media doesn’t have to be toxic. It can be a tool for connection, learning, and inspiration. But only if you’re using it mindfully. Doing a digital detox isn’t about being anti-tech. It’s about being pro-you. And if you find yourself struggling with why you can’t stop scrolling or why you're drawn to content that leaves you feeling low there could be a deeper belief at play.

That’s where tools like Belief Coding can help. We can help uncover the subconscious patterns that keep you stuck in loops, both on-screen and off. Because true transformation starts from within and sometimes, your mindset just needs a little algorithm update too.
